Masherbrum, ranking as the 22nd highest peak globally and the 11th tallest in Pakistan, boasts an impressive prominence of approximately 2,450 meters. Nestled in the Hushe district of Gilgit-Baltistan, it resides amidst the towering giants of the Karakoram range. Masherbrum, towering at 7,821 meters, reigns as the pinnacle of the Masherbrum range, a sub-range within the Karakoram that includes notable peaks such as Chogolisa (7,665m) and K6 (7,281m), adorning the southern crest of the region.
The mountain’s discovery traces back to 1856 when Thomas Montgomerie, a subcontinent military officer, first laid eyes on its majestic form, initially designating it as the tallest peak in the K1 range. However, Masherbrum is seldom referred to as K1 in contemporary discourse. The massif of this imposing peak comprises two primary summits: the North summit, towering at 7,821 meters, and the slightly lower South-West peak at 7,806 meters. Both summits have witnessed successful ascents.
Day 01Arrival in IslamabadUpon arrival at the airport, transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay in Islamabad.
Day 02Travel from Islamabad to Skardu (By Air)Catch an early morning flight to Skardu (subject to weather conditions). Alternatively, if flying isn’t possible, we’ll depart for Skardu by road with an overnight stay in Chilas. Enjoy another overnight stay in a hotel in Chilas.
Day 03Journey from Chilas to SkarduIf the flight operates, embark on a sightseeing tour of Skardu. Otherwise, enjoy an overland journey from Chilas to Skardu, which takes approximately 22 – 24 hours from Islamabad. Another overnight stay in a hotel in Skardu.
Day 04SkarduUse the day to finalize trek arrangements. Enjoy an overnight stay in a hotel in Skardu.
Day 05Skardu to HusheAfter breakfast, embark on a jeep drive along the Indus and Shyok valleys before heading northwards up the Hushe valley. Arrive at the road head in the quaint village of Hushe. (Accommodation in tents)
Day 06Hushe to FarbesangFollowing breakfast, commence trekking to Farbesang. Today marks our departure from Hushe, the last inhabited village. Porters will be assembled to carry our luggage for the upcoming journey. Relish scenic views along an easy walk crossing rivers and valleys, reaching Farbesang by day’s end. (Accommodation in tents)
Day 07Burmbarmma to Masherbrum Base CampStart the day with a trek via Masherbrum Glacier, reaching the small grassy patch serving as the base camp for Masherbrum Peak. (Accommodation in tents)
Days 08 to 45Climbing ActivitiesDedicate over five weeks for acclimatization and scaling the main summit of Masherbrum. (Accommodation in tents)
Day 46Return to HusheAfter breakfast, trek back to Hushe village. Enjoy a meeting with Little Karim and other mountaineers, followed by a village visit. Overnight stay in a hotel in Hushe.
Day 47Hushe to SkarduDepart for Skardu after breakfast, stopping at Khaplu for lunch and visits to Khaplu Fort and Chaqchan Mosque. Enjoy an afternoon drive to Skardu and an overnight stay in a hotel there.
Day 48Skardu to ChilasAfter breakfast, embark on a full-day drive along the Skardu route and Karakoram Highway. Arrive in Chilas and check into a hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 49Chilas to IslamabadBegin the day with breakfast, then drive via Babusar Pass to Islamabad. Start early to cover the 12-hour journey, with a brief stop in Naran for lunch. Arrive in Islamabad by evening for an overnight stay.
Day 50Departure from IslamabadTransfer to the airport for your flight back home.
Kindly be aware that flights to Gilgit Baltistan may be affected by weather conditions and potential backlog. Should a flight cancellation occur, we will proceed with travel by road instead. In such an event, one night’s stay in Islamabad will be incorporated into the overland journey.

4 x 4 Jeeps:
- Jeeps provided for transportation between Skardu, Askoli, Hushe, and back to Skardu.
Trekking and Base Camp Food:
- Food provided during the stay at the base camp, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Porters:
- Porters will carry members’ climbing gear, foodstuff, camping crew, etc., up to the base camp and return to the Jeep Roadhead. Insurance provided for all porters.
Staff:
