K2, a magnificent natural wonder proudly situated in Pakistan, towers at an impressive altitude of 8,611 meters (approximately 28,250 ft), resembling a colossal pyramid. Nestled in the secluded northern province of Baltistan, this breathtaking peak is affectionately referred to as “The Little Tibet” and shares its border with China, with the international boundary tracing directly along its stunning slopes.
Renowned as the second-highest peak globally, K2 has garnered global fascination for its remarkable stature and the remarkable feats achieved by mountaineers worldwide. Accessing its base camp requires traversing the challenging and adventurous terrain of the Baltoro region, a journey that demands meticulous planning and unwavering determination.
Day 1Arrival in IslamabadUpon your arrival at Islamabad airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Islamabad for an overnight stay.
Day 2Skardu to Islamabad (By Air)We’ll embark on an early morning flight to Skardu (subject to weather conditions). In the event of flight cancellation, we’ll continue our journey by road to Skardu, with a stopover in Chilas for the night. Overnight stay in a hotel in Skardu.
Day 3Chilas to SkarduIf the flight is operational, we’ll enjoy a sightseeing trip in Skardu. Alternatively, if there’s no flight, this day will be dedicated to a scenic drive from Chilas to Skardu (approximately 22-24 hours from Islamabad). Overnight stay in a hotel in Skardu.
Day 4Skardu Rest DayTake the day to explore Skardu and make final preparations for the journey ahead.
Day 5Askole to SkarduAfter breakfast, embark on a jeep ride and traverse the twisting path to Askole, the last village before the vast glaciers.
Day 6Askole to JhulaEmbark on a hike to the Dumurdo river crossing at Jhula, where a wooden bridge now spans the river.
Day 7Jhula to PaijuResume the hike along the Braldu River, leading to a lush oasis beneath the towering Paiju Peak.
Day 8Paiju Rest DaySpend a day relaxing and getting used to Paiju.
Day 9Urdukas to PaijuStart the walk as soon as you get breakfast.
Day 10Goro II to UrdukasTake a stroll along the icy Baltoro Glacier.
Day 11Concordia to Goro IIFollowing a leisurely breakfast, proceed up the Baltoro Glacier until you arrive at Concordia, which is 4,000 meters above sea level and marks a significant intersection of the Baltoro, Abruzzi, and Godwin Austin Glaciers.
Day 12K2 Base Camp to ConcordiaTo reach K2 Base Camp, hike after breakfast.
Days 13 to 42Activities Related to ClimbingTake part in climbing exercises.
Day 43Ali Camp to K2 Base CampHead for Ali Camp from K2 Base Camp after an early breakfast.
Day 44Gondogoro Pass – Cross Ali Camp – KhuspangTo traverse the Gondogoro Pass and get to Khuspang, set off early, about two or three in the morning.
Day 45Khuspang to ShaichoThe glacier will be seen after a short stroll of a few minutes. To get to the Shaicho camping area, cross the glacier. Walk time: 6–7 hours; Altitude: 3,800 meters; Grade: Easy.
Day 46Shaicho to HusheProceed on an easy trail by the Hushe River when you go to Hushe, camp close to the village’s fields.
Day 47From Hushe to SkarduTake a jeep ride to Skardu over a twisty route after breakfast. After arriving, check into a hotel in Skardu.
Day 48Skardu to ChilasWe are traveling to Chilas in the morning. After arriving, spend the night in Chilas by checking into the hotel.
Day 49Chilas to IslamabadTravel across the Babusar Pass to Islamabad after breakfast. Transfer to a hotel in Islamabad after arriving for an overnight stay.
Day 50IslamabadProceed to the Alpine Club in Islamabad for a debriefing. Take a tour of Islamabad’s city center in the afternoon. Spend the night in a hotel in Islamabad.
Day 51Departure from IslamabadProceed to the airport in preparation for your journey back home.

4 x 4 Jeeps:
- Jeeps provided for transportation between Skardu, Askoli, Hushe, and back to Skardu.
Trekking and Base Camp Food:
- Food provided during the stay at the base camp, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Porters:
- Porters will carry members’ climbing gear, foodstuff, camping crew, etc., up to the base camp and return to the Jeep Roadhead. Insurance provided for all porters.
Staff:
- Insurance provided for the liaison officer and arrangements made for their role.
- Wages provided for the guide, cook, and assistant cook.
- Provision of camp food, transportation, and insurance for the guide, cook, and assistant cook.
Camping Equipment:
- Provision of a mess tent, kitchen tent, toilet tent, mattress, chairs, and tables.
