The route to the Base Camp commences from Skardu, leading through the picturesque Shigar Valley. The trek then begins from Askole, traversing the Baltoro Glacier and southern Abruzzi glaciers.
Day 01Arrival in IslamabadUpon your arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Islamabad. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
Day 02Islamabad to Skardu (By Air)Early morning flight to Skardu (subject to weather conditions). If the flight is not possible, we will depart for Skardu by road with an overnight stay at Chilas. Overnight stay in a hotel at Chilas.
Day 03Chilas to SkarduIf a flight is available, we will go for a sightseeing tour of Skardu. Otherwise, we will travel overland from Chilas to Skardu (total drive time is 22 – 24 hours from Islamabad to Skardu). Overnight stay in a hotel at Skardu.
Day 04SkarduThis day is dedicated to finalizing the expedition arrangements. Overnight stay in a hotel at Skardu.
Day 05Skardu to AskoleAfter breakfast, we will embark on jeeps for a full-day ride on a winding jeep trail to Askole – the last inhabitation on our way to the Great Glaciers. (Tent)
Day 06Askole to JulaToday, we will leave the last inhabited village of Askole. For the remaining portion of our journey, we will rely on our local team to carry our food and equipment. Trek to the Dumurdo river crossing at Jula. A wooden bridge has been built to cross it. (Tent)
Day 07Jula to PaijuWe will resume trekking along the Braldu River to a green oasis under the shadows of Paiju Peak 6611 M. (Tent)
Day 08Rest Day at PaijuRest and acclimatization day at Paiju. (Tent)
Day 09Paiju to UrdukasWe will begin the trek after an early breakfast. (Tent)
Day 10Urdukas to Goro IIA long walk on the icy Baltoro Glacier. (Tent)
Day 11Goro II to ShaghringAfter an early breakfast, we will trek to Shaghring. (Tent)
Day 12Shaghring to Gasherbrum Base CampAfter an early breakfast, we will trek to Gasherbrum Base Camp. (Tent)
Day 13 to 42Climbing ActivitiesWe have 29 days for acclimatization and for scaling the summit. (Tent)
Day 43Gasherbrum Base Camp to Ali CampAfter an early breakfast, we will depart for Ali Camp. (Tent)
Day 44Ali Camp – Cross Gondogoro Pass – KhuspangA very early start, as early as 2 or 3 a.m., to cross the Gondogoro La to reach Khuspang. (Tent)
Day 45Khuspang to ShaichoAfter a couple of minutes of easy walking, we will come onto the glacier. We will pick our way across moving boulders and ice, and finally, crossing the glacier up to the camping site, we will reach Shaicho. Walk: 06 – 07 hrs, Grade: Easy. (Tent)
Day 46Shaicho to HusheAfter breakfast, we will continue walking along the Hushe River on an easy path. Upon arrival in Hushe, we will camp near the fields in Hushe village. (Tent)
Day 47Hushe to SkarduAfter breakfast, we will embark on jeeps for a full-day ride on a winding jeep road to Skardu. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check in. Overnight stay in a hotel at Skardu.
Day 48Skardu to ChilasEarly morning drive for Chilas. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check in. Overnight stay in a hotel at Chilas.
Day 49Chilas to IslamabadAfter breakfast, we will depart for Islamabad via the Babusar pass. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
Day 50IslamabadWe will proceed with debriefing at the Alpine Club in Islamabad. In the afternoon, we will go for a city tour of Islamabad. Overnight stay in a hotel in Islamabad.
Day 51Islamabad to Flight outTransfer to the airport for the flight back home.
